Gulliver Will Travel

Hi my name is Gulliver. Well it's really Gulliver Will Travel, but you can call me Gulliver. You know, like from the famous novel by Jonathan Swift called "Gulliver's Travels". Although Gulliver had many adventures with the Lilliputians, I'm having some pretty tremendous adventures myself thanks to the help of the caring people at the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia.

It all started during the summer of 2007...
While sitting on the shelf of Animal World with my stuffy friends, we wondered who was going to buy us and take us home with them. We watched as people walked by in the Mall passing our store. Tiger, sitting next me, saw a cute little red haired girl walking with her mother. He said, “Wouldn't it be neat if she came and took me home with her to be her special friend?” I thought to myself, I am destined for something more, something moore exciting than the simple life of a stuffed animal. I decided I was going to wait for the perfect person. One who would take me on never ending journeys full of exciting adventure. Then, when I least expected it, I overheard two ladies talking with the salesperson. They told her that they were in search of a stuffed animal for their special friend Jerziah, who lives at the children’s hospital. This particular animal would have to travel to all parts of the world to bring back stories for their friend since he is unable to leave the hospital. The salesperson took them over to see many large bears, but they said they wouldn't do. She showed them much smaller bears and they wouldn't do either. Just then, as I was leaning as far forward as I dared, the older woman spotted me. She shouted, “There...up there...that's the perfect bear for our friend Jerziah”. I could hardly believe it. She was pointing straight at me! Yippee!

And so my grand adventures began...
I waited and waited for what seemed like forever, before I got to meet my special friend, the one I was destined to belong to and travel for. This special young man who would share in my adventures, thanks to his many friends at CHKD...Jerziah. My co-guardians, Bonnie and Cathy, introduced me to the bestest bear’s friend ever. He smiled when he saw me, and I knew then I had made the right choice at the mall. I am the most special bear EVER because of my best friend...Jerziah.
